Dear Linda Dunn Foundation Scholarship,

I’d like to express my sincere gratitude for being selected as a recipient of the Linda Dunn Foundation Scholarship. I am incredibly grateful for the immense help. I am still in disbelief that I am in my second semester of Florida Southwestern State College Dental Hygiene Program because this career has always been a dream of mine. Today, I am accomplishing it, and the financial relief from your scholarship has eased the financial burden and has allowed me to focus on my studies.

Additionally, I’d like to add that I am a first-time mother, and having an infant to care for at the same time as going to school has made this journey quite challenging. I’m learning to balance my studies with my parenting responsibilities. Focusing on both responsibilities simultaneously is difficult, but I’m doing my best. I know that once I’m working as a professional dental hygienist, I will be able to provide for my daughter and be content with the profession I have selected because I have a true passion for the dental field.

Moreover, I’ve been a dental assistant for about nine years, and it’s been a fantastic experience to help patients feel comfortable and at ease in the dental office. However, I wanted to do more. I wanted to build a relationship with my patients on a different matter: to have that one-on-one connection versus seeing patients always when they are in pain or need dental work. As Linda, I believe in treating patients as if they were family members and providing them with the highest level of care. I will continue Linda’s legacy of being thoughtful, kind, and compassionate towards every patient. I will always strive for the best outcome for my patients. I will also educate them at every opportunity I can. Again, I’d like to express my enormous gratitude and want you to know that I am truly grateful for your recognition.
